5 Claude Code Skills That Give Your Business an Edge
July 12, 2026

Most companies still use AI the same way: open a chat, type a prompt, copy the result. Meanwhile, the game has moved up a level. Claude Code skills are ready-made abilities you install into AI with a single command — and from that moment on, your assistant doesn't need step-by-step instructions, because it already knows how to do the job at a specialist level. SEO audits, ad campaign analysis, websites, even video production.
This article covers the five skills with the fastest payback for a small business. All of them are free and open source, and their popularity is public — this isn't a wishlist, these are tools used by hundreds of thousands of people. Most business owners haven't heard of any of them yet. That's exactly the window where adopting something before your competitors is cheapest.
What a skill is — and why it's not just another prompt
Skills (Agent Skills) were introduced by Anthropic, the makers of Claude, in late 2025. From the official announcement:
"Skills are folders that include instructions, scripts, and resources that Claude can load when needed." — Anthropic, Introducing Agent Skills
The difference between a skill and a prompt is fundamental:
- A prompt is something you write from scratch every time, slightly differently every time. The output depends on how sharp you are that day.
- A skill is an expert's procedure written down once — with rules, checklists, and tools. AI executes it the same way every single time.
The simplest way to think about it: onboarding materials for a new hire. Instead of explaining everything from zero on every task, you hand over a binder with the company's procedures. Skills install with one command from the open skills.sh directory — and the most popular ones have install counters running into the hundreds of thousands.
To use skills you need Claude Code — the version of Claude that works as an agent, not a chat window. If you're just getting started, read the Claude beginner's guide for business first.
1. Marketing Skills — a marketing department in one package
Repository: coreyhaines31/marketingskills
The loudest skill package in the business category. It was built by Corey Haines — the marketer behind Swipe Files and Conversion Factory — and released for free. It has gathered nearly 38,000 stars on GitHub, and individual skills from the package, like the SEO audit (over 158,000 installs) or copywriting (nearly 149,000), rank among the most-installed marketing tools in the entire ecosystem.
Inside are 47 abilities, including:
- copywriting and copy-editing — sales copy built on proven structures, not "nice sentences"
- seo-audit and programmatic-seo — a technical site audit and a search-driven content strategy
- cold-email — outbound email sequences
- pricing and offers — how to structure your pricing and offers
- marketing-plan, ab-testing, analytics — planning and measuring what works
What it looks like in practice: you ask Claude for an SEO audit of your site and get a report with specific fixes the same day — instead of waiting two weeks for an agency quote.
2. Claude Ads — an agency-grade audit of your ad campaigns
Repository: AgriciDaniel/claude-ads
If you spend money on Meta or Google ads, this is the skill that pays for itself fastest. It's a complete paid-advertising audit system: over 250 checks covering Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok, Microsoft, and Apple Ads, with weighted scoring and industry templates.
It works like this: you export your campaign data, and the skill walks through it the way an auditor would — account structure, targeting, budgets, creatives, landing pages. At the end you get a score and a list of fixes, ordered by impact.
To be clear: the skill doesn't click around your ads manager for you. It shows you where the budget is burning — the decisions and changes are still yours, or your agency's. But a conversation with your agency where you're holding an independent 250-point audit is a very different conversation than negotiating blind.

3. Stop Slop — writing that doesn't sound like AI
Repository: hardikpandya/stop-slop
Everyone can spot AI-written text by now: the same predictable phrases, the same sentence rhythm, em dashes everywhere, empty flourishes. There's a word for it — "slop". The problem is that your clients can spot it too, and copy that looks generated undermines a company's credibility faster than a typo.
Stop Slop, built by Hardik Pandya (a design leader with a big-tech background), teaches Claude to catch and remove those tells: it cuts filler, varies sentence length, and forces direct statements instead of hedged, roundabout ones. It has collected nearly 14,000 stars on GitHub and become a small phenomenon among people who write a lot with AI.
What it looks like in practice: your newsletter, proposal, or LinkedIn post goes through the skill as a final pass — and stops sounding generated. It sounds like you.
4. Frontend Design — a website without a developer or a template
Repository: anthropics/skills
The official skill from Anthropic and the second most-installed skill in the world — over 653,000 installs according to skills.sh. It exists because AI-generated websites have a recognizable "default look": the same gradients, the same layouts, the same lack of character. Frontend Design loads Claude with real design principles — typography, grids, hierarchy, color — so the result looks like studio work, not generator output.
For a business, this means a landing page for a new service, a webinar signup page, or a simple product page gets built in an evening: you describe what the page needs to communicate, and Claude designs and builds it directly in code, ready to deploy.
What it looks like in practice: you test a new service idea the same week you have it — no contractor queue, no "good enough" compromise.
5. Remotion — video from a description, no editor needed
Repository: remotion-dev/skills
The finale of the list and the biggest "wow" in a demo. Remotion is a technology for building video in code, and the official skill from its creators (over 421,000 installs) teaches Claude to use it properly. In practice: you describe a video — an animated product spot, a data-driven reel, a presentation intro — and AI builds it scene by scene and renders a finished file. The skill can also trim and crop existing footage.
This is not a "type a prompt, get a random clip" video generator. Remotion gives you full control: exact copy, brand colors, logos, frame-accurate timing. That's what makes it right for content that needs to look consistent and on-brand — reel series, offer spots, animated data stories.
What it looks like in practice: an animated spot for your new offer takes an hour instead of a week and costs about as much as the electricity — and every new version is one command away.
How to install all of this — one prompt instead of a tutorial
Each skill installs with a single terminal command:
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills
npx skills add AgriciDaniel/claude-ads
npx skills add hardikpandya/stop-slop
npx skills add anthropics/skills
npx skills add remotion-dev/skills
And if you'd rather not do anything by hand — paste this prompt into Claude Code and let AI onboard itself:
I want to install and configure 5 skills. Source material:
1. https://github.com/coreyhaines31/marketingskills — marketing package
2. https://github.com/AgriciDaniel/claude-ads — paid ads audit
3. https://github.com/hardikpandya/stop-slop — removing AI tells from writing
4. https://github.com/anthropics/skills — official Anthropic skills (frontend-design)
5. https://github.com/remotion-dev/skills — programmatic video (Remotion)
Context: I run a small business and I'm not a developer.
Do the following:
1. Research — read the README of each repository
2. Check my setup — see what I already have installed
3. Propose an installation plan plus the first 3 tasks to test each skill
on my actual business — then wait for my OK
4. After my OK — install everything and walk me through the first test
5. Tell me what to do next
Keep it short. Only ask when truly necessary.
Claude will read the documentation itself, check what you have, and propose a plan tailored to your business. That beats any step-by-step tutorial — not least because when the authors update their skills, this instruction never goes stale.
Which skill to start with
There's no point rolling out all five at once. Install the whole set (it takes a minute), but test them one at a time — in the order that translates to money fastest in your business:
| Your situation | Start with | First result |
|---|---|---|
| You spend on Meta/Google ads | Claude Ads | a campaign audit before your next agency invoice |
| Your website doesn't sell | Marketing Skills | an SEO audit + new sales copy |
| You write a lot with AI | Stop Slop | content stops sounding generated |
| You want to test a new service | Frontend Design | a landing page ready in an evening |
| You make video content | Remotion | your first animated spot in an hour |
Skills are building blocks. The real advantage starts when you connect them into systems that work without you — that's covered in the article on agent loops.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to code? No. Installation is one command pasted into a terminal, and from there you talk to Claude in plain language. The only requirement is the nerve to open Claude Code instead of a regular chat window for the first time.
How much does it cost? All five skills are free and open source. You only pay for your Claude subscription (the Pro plan), which you probably have already. There are no extra licenses.
How is a skill different from a "custom GPT" or a saved prompt? A saved prompt is a note. A skill is a procedure plus tools: it contains scripts, checklists, and rules that an agent executes on your real files, data, and websites — it doesn't just "talk about" the task, it finishes it.
Do skills work in my language? Yes. The instructions inside skills are written in English, but Claude executes them and responds in whatever language you use — your copy, audits, and pages come out in your language.
Install before your competitors do
Claude Code skills are the cheapest real advantage available right now: free tools most business owners have never heard of, replacing the first few thousand dollars a month you'd otherwise spend on contractors. In a year they'll be standard. Today they're an edge.
